Though our club is relatively small in number, we try to have a BIG impact on our community through our service projects. While our primary focus is on children, we also engage in programs that go beyond that limited outlook.

Produce and distribute an area church directorySponsor an annual Baccalaureate Service for the graduating class of MHSSponsor placement of newspapers in area schools for use by classroom teachersOrganize and participate in the annual distribution of Thanksgiving BasketsSponsor the annual MHS Kiwanis Invitational Track MeetSupport an annual Drama Project for youth in the communitySponsor youth desiring to participate in the Michigan State Police Youth AcademyAward grants to students for participation in statewide competitionsSupport care and maintenance for our local playgroundOrganize and support activities for kids during Spring BreakOffer financial support to ongoing community groups: Hiawathaland Habitat for Humanity, Manistique Schools Foundation, 4th of July Parade, and many more
We Donate our Time, Too
With the porjects listed above, there are lots of volunteer hours that are given by our members. In addition, there’s also an attempt to engage ourselves in other community service projects that are not just Kiwanis oriented.
Fund Raising
Our Kiwanis Club focusees on service projects that will have a positive impact on the youth of our community. In order to accomplish that goal, we try to raise funds in creative ways so that local businesses get something in return for their donation or investment in Kiwanis. Whatever we raise in the community stays here. We create and sell Discount Cards through partnering with local businesses so they will see increased trafficWe produce a Placemat by selling ads and then provide them to local restaurants in the areaWe have organized a Father/Daughter dinner and dance to encourage family connections and to raise funds for our annual drama projectWe have shared with the community a Coin Spiral Wishing Well to help raise funds both for our club and for other organizations as well
